Ramallah (UNA/WAFA) – The Palestinian Commission of Prisoners’ Affairs reported that young prisoners in Damon prison are living under difficult conditions, with insects spreading throughout the rooms and them being subjected to almost daily surprise searches that keep them out in the open for hours.
The Commission's lawyer reported that conditions in the cubs' section, where 70 prisoners are held, are difficult, as they are subjected to surprise inspections from time to time. She added that a week ago, at dawn, a unit called "Yamaz" stormed the section and took the prisoners out into the yard after shackling their hands and feet for two hours in the cold until the unit's personnel finished the inspection.
The lawyer noted that four days ago, prison guards, accompanied by an officer, entered the cells and confiscated all the prisoners' clothing. They left each prisoner with one gray suit, in addition to the brown "Shabas-Israel Prison Service" suit.
The lawyer added, citing prisoners she visited, that they are suffering from a widespread bedbug infestation in some rooms.
