Palestinian Prime Minister discusses with UN official enhancing efforts to provide temporary shelter, restore services and early recovery in Gaza Strip

Ramallah (UNA/WAFA) – Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa discussed on Wednesday with the Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS)UNOPS) Jorge Moreira, strengthening joint action, in order to implement the government’s plan for relief, early recovery and emergency response to the needs of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.

During the meeting, which was held at his office in Ramallah, in the presence of Minister of Public Works and Housing Ahed Bseiso and Minister of Social Development and Relief Samah Hamad, the Prime Minister stressed that the priority in early recovery, in addition to continuing relief efforts, is to work on removing rubble and opening roads, restoring basic services, providing renewable energy and temporary shelter, repairing partially damaged homes, and restoring economic activity and the wheel of production.

For his part, Moreira expressed the provision of all available capabilities and continuous coordination in order to enhance the government's efforts and practical mechanisms in urgent relief and early recovery, and to prepare to sign a memorandum of understanding in this regard, and to make efforts to accelerate the entry of emergency needs and temporary shelter from tents and caravans.
