OIC welcomes French President's statements on the need to stop arms exports to the Israeli occupation

Jeddah (UNA) - The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) welcomed the statements of French President Emmanuel Macron, in which he stressed the need to refrain from exporting weapons to Israel, the occupying power, which are used in the war on the Gaza Strip and the priority of finding a political solution to the conflict, considering this to be consistent with international humanitarian law, the legal advisory opinion issued by the International Court of Justice, and relevant United Nations resolutions.

The organization also called on France to recognize the State of Palestine on the lines of June 1967, XNUMX, with East Jerusalem as its capital, within the framework of its positions supporting the vision of a two-state solution and the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination.

The organization stressed that the continued military and financial support for Israel, the occupying power, encourages it to continue committing crimes and violations against the Palestinian people, calling on all countries to take the necessary measures, including imposing an arms embargo, ending all other commercial activities that may harm the Palestinians, and imposing sanctions on it, to force it to immediately and comprehensively stop its military aggression against Palestine and Lebanon, which threatens security and stability in the region.
