The Prime Minister of Spain receives the delegation of the ministerial committee assigned by the joint extraordinary Arab-Islamic summit regarding developments in the Gaza Strip

Madrid (UNA/SPA) – Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Spain, Pedro Sanchez, received today the delegation of the Ministerial Committee assigned by the Extraordinary Joint Arab-Islamic Summit on the developments in the Gaza Strip, headed by Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs, and in the presence of the Prime Minister of Palestine and Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohammad Mustafa, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Ayman Safadi, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration of the Arab Republic of Egypt Dr. Badr Abdel Aati, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey Mr. Hakan Fidan, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Hussein Ibrahim Taha, and Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar Dr. Mohammed Al-Khulaifi, in the capital of the Kingdom of Spain, Madrid.

At the beginning of the reception, Their Highnesses and Excellencies, members of the Ministerial Committee, discussed the importance of continuing to provide all means of support to activate recognition of the Palestinian state in a way that guarantees the fulfillment of the rights of the Palestinian people and serves security and peace in the region and the world in the face of extremism, the spread of violence and the continued violations of international law.

The meeting reviewed the urgent efforts to take the necessary steps to implement the two-state solution by establishing a Palestinian state on the lines of June 1967, XNUMX, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in light of the Arab Peace Initiative and relevant international initiatives.

The members of the Ministerial Committee stressed the necessity of the withdrawal of the Israeli occupation army from the Palestinian side of the Rafah crossing and the Philadelphi corridor and the restoration of full control to the Palestinian Authority.

The meeting discussed the efforts made to stop the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and the dangerous escalation in the West Bank, the necessity of an immediate ceasefire, and the entry of sufficient and sustainable humanitarian aid to all parts of the Strip.

The meeting addressed the need to stop the expansion of Israeli settlements and activate international accountability mechanisms for all violations of international law and international humanitarian law, in order to achieve just and comprehensive peace, preserve the rights of the Palestinian people, and achieve security in the region.

The meeting was attended by the Foreign Ministers and representatives of the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Kingdom of Norway, the Republic of Slovenia, and the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell.
