Palestinian Foreign Ministry: The refugees’ right to return is guaranteed by international law and UN resolutions

Ramallah (UNA/WAFA) - The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates affirmed the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, including the right of Palestinian refugees to return and compensation as guaranteed by international law and relevant United Nations resolutions, specifically United Nations General Assembly Resolutions 194 and 237..

The Ministry said in a statement issued yesterday, Thursday, on the occasion of World Refugee Day, which falls on June 20/June of every year, it will continue to work with all parties to promote and realize the rights of the Palestinian people, including the right of Palestinian refugees to return to their homes.

It added that it would also continue its efforts to secure the return of 1.9 million Palestinians who were forcibly displaced in the Gaza Strip during the ongoing genocide, and to confront the occupying power’s widespread and systematic efforts to ethnically cleanse and annex the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem.

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates also confirmed that it will continue to work with all partners to protect the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), and ensure its ability to continue implementing its international mandate, including providing vital services to Palestinian refugees..

She said: “The international community has a legal, political and moral responsibility to ensure that the occupying power ends its aggression against the Palestinian people, ends the humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip, and stops its colonial violence against the Palestinian people whom it is trying to erase and replace.”
