The Palestinian presidency welcomes the Security Council’s adoption of a resolution calling for an immediate and complete ceasefire in Gaza

Ramallah (UNA/WAFA) - The Palestinian presidency welcomed, yesterday evening, Monday, the adoption by the UN Security Council of a resolution calling for an immediate and complete ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the complete withdrawal of the Israeli occupation forces from the Strip, and the return of the displaced to their homes and neighborhoods throughout the Strip. Gaza, including the northern Gaza Strip, the safe and effective distribution of humanitarian aid on a large scale throughout the Gaza Strip, the rejection of any geographical and demographic change, and the implementation of the two-state solution and the unity of the West Bank, including Jerusalem, and Gaza under the Palestinian Authority led by the Palestine Liberation Organization.

The Palestinian presidency considered the adoption of this resolution as a step in the right direction to stop the ongoing war of genocide against our people in the Gaza Strip, calling on everyone to assume their responsibilities for its implementation, noting that it is consistent with its demands for an immediate halt to the Israeli aggression, the withdrawal of the occupation forces from the entire Strip, and the entry of aid. Preventing displacement, and that the Gaza Strip is an integral part of the territory of the State of Palestine.

The presidency stressed that the Security Council’s affirmation in its resolution of its firm commitment to the vision of a two-state solution, in accordance with international law and relevant United Nations resolutions, requires working seriously towards implementing the political solution that leads to ending the occupation and establishing an independent Palestinian state, in accordance with international law and international legitimacy resolutions..

The Palestinian presidency extended its sincere thanks to all brotherly and friendly countries, Algeria, the Arab representative in the Security Council, and the appreciated Egyptian and Qatari mediation, all of which contributed to making the decision consistent with Palestinian national goals.
