Washington demands an investigation into Israel's execution of two civilians in Gaza

Washington (UNI/Anatolia) - The US State Department expressed its deep concern over the execution of two Palestinian civilians by Israeli soldiers in the Gaza Strip and burying them in the sand with bulldozers, demanding an investigation into the incident.

This came from one of its spokespersons in response to a question from Anadolu about scenes shown by the Qatari Al Jazeera channel showing the execution of two Palestinian Israeli soldiers in cold blood while they were trying to return to northern Gaza.

The spokesman said in a statement sent to Anadolu on Friday that they are deeply disturbed by the incident, adding: “We expect that this incident will be investigated properly, and that the people responsible for it will be held accountable if necessary.”

He pointed out that they were not able to independently verify the scenes that were broadcast for the first time on Al Jazeera, but they immediately contacted the Israeli side about them and requested information about the incident.

He stated that Israel has a responsibility to investigate proven violations of the laws of war and hold perpetrators accountable in an appropriate manner.

On Wednesday evening, Al Jazeera broadcast a video clip, which it did not reveal how it obtained or the date it was filmed. It begins with scenes of two young Palestinians as they attempt to return to the northern Gaza Strip, taking Al-Rashid Street in the west of the Strip, before Israeli army forces stationed on their way near the Gaza Strip appear in the photo. Nabulsi roundabout, southwest of Gaza City, targeting the two young men despite them raising white flags.
