Jeddah (UNA) – The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) appreciated the grant provided by the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in the amount of one million dollars to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). It considered that this donation constitutes an extension of the humanitarian and financial support provided by Member States to contribute to alleviating the financial crisis facing UNRWA. The General Secretariat called on all countries of the world to continue to shoulder their responsibilities towards the issue of Palestinian refugees, and to increase the financial assistance provided to UNRWA in a way that contributes to enabling it to continue serving this large segment of the Palestinian people until their issue is resolved in accordance with the relevant international legitimacy resolutions.
