Ramallah (UNA) – Palestinian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Riyad Al-Maliki received today, Tuesday, at the ministry’s headquarters in Ramallah, Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Nasser Bourita and the accompanying delegation, and held in-depth talks and consultations on the latest political and field developments on the Palestinian and Arab arenas. Al-Maliki provided a detailed explanation to the Moroccan delegation on the latest developments in the field, political and economic situation in Palestine, the importance of lifting the siege imposed on the Palestinian people, and the prominent Moroccan role in supporting Palestinian national rights and the peace process based on the Arab Peace Initiative. For his part, Minister Bourita explained that Morocco pays great attention to the recent developments on the Palestinian arena, and is keen to develop its relations with Palestine. Morocco is also interested in advancing the peace process in order to achieve stability and security in the region. He said that his visit to the State of Palestine comes within the framework of direct instructions from Moroccan King Mohammed VI, in order to emphasize the supportive, steadfast and solidarity positions with the Palestinian leadership and people. Minister Bourita and the accompanying delegation visited Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem and the Moroccan Cultural Center (Beit Al-Maghrib) to closely examine the situation in the city of Jerusalem and its holy sites, in line with Morocco’s presidency of the Al-Quds Committee of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the important role of the Kingdom of Morocco in supporting Jerusalem and preserving holy sites.
