Abbas briefs the Moroccan Foreign Minister on the latest Palestinian developments

Ramallah (UNA) – Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas received Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita in Ramallah on Tuesday evening and briefed him on the latest Palestinian developments. President Abbas pointed out that this visit confirms the depth of fraternal relations between the two brotherly countries, and the keenness of the Palestinian and Moroccan leaderships to strengthen and develop them. The President briefed the Moroccan Foreign Minister on the latest developments in the Palestinian territories, and the developments of the political process that has reached a dead end due to the arbitrary Israeli measures and the unjust American decisions regarding the Palestinian cause, especially Jerusalem. Abbas reiterated the importance of Arab support for the Palestinian position adhering to the established Palestinian rights, and his rejection of the language of dictates and threats, and attempts aimed at liquidating the Palestinian cause. He stressed that the issue of Jerusalem is the issue of Arabs and free people all over the world. The President stressed the importance of holding an international peace conference, from which an international mechanism would emerge to resolve the Palestinian issue on the basis of international legitimacy resolutions, leading to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital on the 1967 borders. He appreciated the support provided by the Kingdom of Morocco to the Palestinian people and their just cause, especially its support for the occupied city of Jerusalem through its chairmanship of the Al-Quds Committee and its establishment of the Bayt Mal Al-Quds, which supports many important projects in the holy city. In turn, the Moroccan Foreign Minister stressed the importance of his visit to Palestine, in order to affirm Morocco's firm positions and its provision of support and solidarity with the Palestinian leadership and people, considering the Palestinian issue and Jerusalem as a constant of Moroccan national principles. Minister Bourita stressed that King Mohammed VI of Morocco pays special attention to the city of Jerusalem and is keen on continuous consultation and coordination with President Mahmoud Abbas to confront the dangers threatening the Palestinian issue and the occupied city of Jerusalem.
