Abu Dhabi hosts the Jerusalem Conference, with the participation of 400 Arab and international personalities

Abu Dhabi (UNA) – The UAE capital, Abu Dhabi, will host on April 400 the international conference held by the General Union of Arab Writers in cooperation with the Emirates Writers Union on the city of Jerusalem, entitled “The Arab City of Jerusalem: Place and Status,” with the participation of about 3 figures from Arab writers’ unions and a large number of scholars, researchers, specialists and guests. The General Union of Arab Writers announced in a statement today (UNA received a copy of it) the details of the Jerusalem conference, after completing preparations and finalizing the names of the participating delegations and guests. Poet and journalist Habib Al-Sayegh, Secretary-General of the Union, said that the conference will last for 400 days, and that the final date was set after the organizing committee received many requests to attend and participate from delegations and researchers, which tripled the number of participants compared to the previously scheduled number, reaching about XNUMX Arab and international figures. Pointing out that the Jerusalem Conference in Abu Dhabi discusses a set of important axes that surround the issue and the city from their various aspects, including the city of Jerusalem: origin and development (historical vision), the city of Jerusalem as a place and religious status - a comparative reading, the city of Jerusalem: reading the character through heritage, religious and political conflicts over the city of Jerusalem throughout history, the Omar Covenant and the status of Jerusalem in Islamic heritage, the city of Jerusalem: an arena for the clash of civilizations, the Arabs in Jerusalem before the Zionist occupation, the demographic changes introduced by the Zionist occupation to Jerusalem, the city of Jerusalem: a reading of international agreements and resolutions regarding the holy city, representations of the city of Jerusalem in contemporary Arab culture, the future of the city of Jerusalem... the future of the Arab-Zionist conflict, and Jerusalem in world literature. Al-Sayegh stressed that the General Union of Arab Writers and Authors places the Palestinian issue, and Jerusalem at its heart, at the forefront of its priorities, considering it the first central issue that should occupy writers, authors, intellectuals, and all loyal people from the sons of the Arab nation. Pointing to the symbolism and importance of holding the conference in Abu Dhabi and the UAE in the Year of Zayed and the Centennial of Zayed, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan - may God bless his soul - is the exceptional leader who established a balanced policy that adopts the values ​​of love, progress and peace, and seeks to spread these values ​​in the world. History stands as a witness to Sheikh Zayed's positions on Palestine and its just cause, an approach that is now being enshrined at various levels during the era of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State - may God protect him. Al Sayegh said: The conference program includes a major poetry festival with the participation of major Arab and Emirati poets, where daily poetry evenings will be held over the three days of the conference. The festival will bear the name of the great Arab poet Mahmoud Darwish, who devoted his life to the cause of Palestine and the cause of poetry, and whose tenth anniversary falls this year.
