Ramallah (UNA) – Palestinian Prime Minister Dr. Rami Hamdallah discussed with Omani Foreign Minister Yusuf bin Alawi the latest Palestinian political and economic developments, and ways to support the city of Jerusalem. This came during Hamdallah’s reception in his office in Ramallah today, Thursday, of the Omani Foreign Minister and his accompanying delegation, in the presence of Secretary of the Central Committee of the Fatah Movement, Major General Jibril Rajoub, and Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Tayseer Jaradat. Hamdallah reiterated his emphasis on the position of the Palestinian leadership, adhering to the two-state solution and the necessity of having an international mechanism to sponsor the political process and negotiations with the Israeli side, in accordance with international legitimacy, ensuring the end of the occupation and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. Hamdallah briefed Minister bin Alawi on the ongoing violations of the occupation against the Palestinian people, their land and their holy sites, especially in the city of Jerusalem, especially in light of the repercussions of the US President’s announcement recognizing it as the capital of Israel and moving the US embassy to it, stressing the importance of Arab support for the holy city, whether through visits by official and popular delegations, or investing in it and supporting the steadfastness of the Jerusalemites there. The Prime Minister stressed the strength of bilateral relations between Palestine and the Sultanate of Oman, noting the importance of the Omani delegation's visit, and appreciating Oman's continued support for the Palestinian cause in all international forums. In the same context, he called on Arab and Islamic countries to exert more efforts and take tangible steps to enhance the steadfastness of the Palestinian people and their stability on their land. For his part, Minister Bin Alawi affirmed the Sultanate of Oman's continued support for the Palestinian cause and the efforts of the Palestinian leadership in all international forums, and stressed his country's rejection of US President Donald Trump's declaration regarding the city of Jerusalem.
