Abbas orders the provision of financial aid to the Syrian refugees in Gaza and granting them Palestinian passports

Ramallah (INA) - Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas responded immediately to the appeal of Syrian families who have sought refuge in the Gaza Strip since 2012, by extending a helping hand and assistance to them, given the difficult humanitarian conditions in which they live. This response came after an appeal made by one of these refugees during a call to the Palestine Sabah Al-Khair program, which is broadcast on the Radio Voice of Palestine, about the presence of 8 families and three other individuals from Syria, residing in the Gaza Strip, some of them for about 5 years, when they were forced to come To Gaza and stay there, because of the current crisis in their country. President Abbas directed the government to disburse emergency and urgent financial aid to these Syrian families, provide health insurance for their members, and issue Palestinian passports for them. He also ordered the Ministry of Social Development to include the names of these Syrian refugees in the ministry's cash assistance program. President Abbas said that these Syrians are residing in their second homeland, Palestine, and that the Palestinian people have not forgotten the stance of the Syrian brothers with the Palestinian refugees since the Palestinian Nakba, wishing the Almighty God to preserve Syria and its people and to return better than it was. In turn, the Syrian families thanked the Palestinian President for responding quickly to their appeal, which reflects the depth of fraternal bonds between the Syrian and Palestinian peoples. They also praised the noble and gallant stance of President Abbas. (End) Khaled Al-Khalidi / pg
