Ramallah (UNA/WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces arrested 40 citizens, including 4 women and a child, from several governorates between Wednesday evening and Thursday morning.
The Palestinian Prisoners Club stated in a press release issued today, Thursday, that the number of arrests in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, since the beginning of the war crime of genocide has risen to approximately 22. This figure includes those whom the occupation continues to detain and those who have been subsequently released, marking a historic shift in the number of arrests in just two and a half years. The Club emphasized that this figure does not include arrests in the Gaza Strip, which are estimated to number in the thousands, nor arrest campaigns in the territories occupied in 1948.
He explained that the arrests were accompanied by unprecedented crimes and violations, including severe beatings, organized acts of terrorism against detainees and their families, widespread sabotage and destruction of citizens’ homes, confiscation of vehicles, money and gold jewelry, as well as the destruction of infrastructure, the demolition of the homes of prisoners’ families, the use of family members as hostages, the use of detainees as human shields, the execution of field executions, and the exploitation of arrests as a cover for expanding settlements in the West Bank.
He pointed out that extensive field investigations have affected thousands since the beginning of the genocide, during which occupation soldiers committed crimes no less serious than torture crimes in investigation and detention centers.
He stressed that the policy of daily arrests is one of the most prominent colonial tools that the Israeli system has historically used to target Palestinians and undermine any uprising or resistance. It has affected various segments of Palestinian society and continues to escalate despite the ceasefire agreement, which did not stop the genocide and comprehensive aggression against various Palestinian regions.
