"African Summit": The two-state solution is the only way to end the conflict and achieve stability

Addis Ababa (UNA/WAFA) – The final statement issued by the 38th Ordinary Summit of the African Union, which concluded its work yesterday, Sunday, in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, stressed that the two-state solution is the only way to end the conflict and achieve stability..

The final statement condemned the Israeli war and brutal aggression on the Gaza Strip, and rejected Israel's violations of international law and targeting of civilians and infrastructure.

He stressed that the displacement of Palestinians from their land is contrary to international law, and stated: “Israel is committing genocide against the Palestinians and must be tried internationally.”".

He also called on African leaders to stop any form of cooperation or normalization with Israel until it ends its occupation and aggression against Palestine..

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates welcomed the final statement issued by the African Summit, especially the honorable positions it contained regarding the Israeli occupation and aggression and the war of extermination against the Palestinian people, as well as the summit’s rejection of displacement and annexation plans..

In a statement, the ministry congratulated the African leaders, peoples and governments of the continent on the success of the summit, wishing all progress, prosperity and stability for the countries of the continent.

The summit activities began on Saturday with the participation of the President of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, along with the leaders of African countries and representatives of international and regional organizations.

In his speech before the summit, His Excellency reiterated his absolute rejection of any calls aimed at displacing the Palestinian people from their homeland, which would keep the region in a cycle of violence, instead of going towards making peace..

He said: “Whoever believes that he can impose a new deal of the century, or displace the Palestinian people and seize any inch of our land, is delusional,” adding that calls to uproot the people from their land and displace them from it aim to distract the world from war crimes, genocide and destruction in Gaza, settlement crimes and attempts to annex the West Bank.

The President stressed that the only place to which the one and a half million refugees living in Gaza should return is their cities and villages from which they were displaced in 1948 in implementation of UN Resolution 194, stressing that Israeli colonial practices require urgent measures from the international community and the UN Security Council before the spread of extremist forces that are working to bury the two-state solution..
