Doha (UNA/QNA) His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of the State of Qatar, performed the Istisqa prayer this morning with a large congregation of worshippers at the Lusail prayer ground, in revival of the noble Sunnah of the Prophet, and in supplication to God Almighty for rain.
The prayer was also performed by His Highness Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Personal Representative of the Emir, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Thani, and His Excellency Sheikh Jassim bin Khalifa Al Thani.
It was also performed by His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, and a number of Their Excellencies the Ministers and senior officials.
In the sermon delivered by His Eminence Sheikh Dr. Yahya Butti Al Nuaimi after the prayer, he urged the worshippers to return to God sincerely and repentantly, and called them to be certain that He, Glory be to Him, has dominion over all things. His Eminence pointed out that God withholds rain from His servants so that they may awaken from their heedlessness and remember that they are weak and do not possess for themselves any benefit or harm except by what God wills. His Eminence also emphasized the importance of supplication and raising hands in supplication to God for the descent of rain, and beseeching Him for forgiveness and piety.
