During the ceremony, certificates were officially awarded to approximately 20 Sudanese engineers who successfully completed the Computer-Aided Design and Manufacturing (CAD/CAM/CNC) course, hosted by the University of Nottingham. The training program was funded and coordinated by COMSTECH as part of its mandate to enhance technical capabilities and promote South-South cooperation among member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
In his remarks, Professor Dr. Mohammad Iqbal Chaudhry emphasized COMSTECH’s ongoing commitment to promoting human resource development, applied research, and technology transfer across OIC member states. He explained that such training initiatives aim to equip young people with practical skills relevant to industry needs and to foster long-term academic and technical cooperation among member states.
For his part, Ambassador Aftab Ahmad Khokhar, Assistant Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation for Science and Technology, praised the joint training initiative between COMSTECH and NOTC, stressing that these collaborative programs play a pivotal role in enhancing capacity building, encouraging scientific cooperation, and developing the technical skills of professionals from the member states of the organization.

The intensive training program provided participants with hands-on experience in the latest manufacturing technologies, including computer-aided design (CAD), computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), CNC machine operation, and machine building techniques. Engineers also gained practical experience on advanced industrial equipment such as CNC woodworking machines, drilling and threading machines, welding units, aluminum cutting machines, tool grinders, and milling machines, all under the guidance of experienced faculty members and technical experts from Nottingham University.
In addition to academic training, the Primary Health Sciences Institute facilitated accommodation and care arrangements for Sudanese engineers in Islamabad.
The successful implementation of this program and the distribution of certificates reflect COMSTECH’s ongoing efforts to promote international technical cooperation among OIC member states, and contribute to strengthening academic, technical and diplomatic ties between Pakistan and Sudan.
