Bangladeshi universities delegation concludes fruitful visit to Pakistan with signing of over 20 MoUs

ISLAMABAD (UNA) – A high-level academic delegation from Bangladesh concluded its week-long visit to Pakistan, which resulted in the signing of over 20 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with leading universities and industrial institutions in Pakistan, marking a new chapter in academic cooperation between the two countries.

The 7-member delegation, comprising university presidents and senior officials from prominent universities in Bangladesh, visited Pakistan from June 16 to 21, 2025, at the invitation of the Standing Committee for Scientific and Technological Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (COMSTECH).

During the visit, the delegation toured several distinguished academic institutions in Lahore, Islamabad, and Murree, including universities that are members of the COMSTECH Consortium of Excellence (CCoE). The memoranda of understanding signed with 20 leading Pakistani universities cover diverse areas of cooperation, such as faculty and student exchanges, joint research projects, academic collaboration, exchange of expertise and infrastructure, conference organization, and doctoral tuition waivers.

A highlight of the visit was the signing of an agreement with Gourmet Foods to provide industrial training opportunities for Bangladeshi students, contributing to enhancing practical skills and linking academic institutions with industry.

The delegation was hosted at receptions organized by Dr. Abdul Rahman, President of the Association of Pakistani Universities in the Private Sector, His Excellency Mr. Muhammad Iqbal Hussain Khan, High Commissioner of the People's Republic of Bangladesh to Pakistan, and Professor Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Chowdhury, Coordinator General of COMSTECH, where they discussed various areas of joint cooperation with relevant stakeholders.

At the conclusion of the visit, the Bangladeshi delegation described the visit as "historic and very fruitful," expressing their appreciation for the hospitality and vision they received from their Pakistani counterparts. They also expressed their gratitude to COMSTECH for facilitating this initiative and commended the announcement by the University of Lahore and COMSTECH to provide 100 scholarships to Bangladeshi students.

This academic mission reflects COMSTECH's broader commitment to promoting educational excellence and scientific cooperation among OIC countries, and also strengthens the strong educational and cultural ties between Bangladesh and Pakistan.
