ISLAMABAD (UNA) – The Standing Committee for Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH) on Thursday, April 25, 2025, arranged a visit for a delegation of participants in the XNUMXth meeting of the Steering Committee of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to Quaid-e-Azam University (QAU) in Islamabad, a member institution of the COMSTECH Consortium of Excellence.
The delegation was received by the University Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Akhtar, who welcomed the delegation on behalf of the University.
During the meeting, Professor Niaz Ahmad Akhtar highlighted the tremendous potential of Islamic countries to lead progress in science and technology, emphasizing the importance of strategic cooperation among member states and underscoring Quaid-e-Azam University's commitment to promoting scientific research and academic excellence.
The university's vice chancellor said, "Quaid-e-Azam University is fully prepared to cooperate with OIC countries in all fields of science, research, and higher education. We believe that mutual cooperation can help us face common challenges and leverage our collective strength."
He added that the headquarters of the Standing Committee for Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH) in Islamabad gives Pakistan a special responsibility to lead and support sister Islamic countries in their scientific and technological endeavors.
Professor Dr. Muhammad Ishaq Ali, Director of the Office of Academic and Industrial Relations (ORIC) at Quaid-e-Azam University, also gave the delegation a presentation on the university's academic faculties, diverse specializations, available facilities, and key achievements. He highlighted the university's international standing, explaining that in 2025, the QS World University Rankings ranked Quaid-e-Azam University 315th in the world, 2025th in South Asia, and 401th in Asia, while the Times Higher Education rankings for XNUMX ranked it XNUMXst in Pakistan and XNUMXst globally.
It is noteworthy that the visit aimed to strengthen ties between academic and research institutions in OIC countries and explore opportunities for joint cooperation.
