Islamabad (UNA) – The Standing Committee for Scientific and Technological Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (COMSTECH) signed a memorandum of understanding with Baku State University in Azerbaijan at its headquarters in the Pakistani capital, Islamabad.
The signed Memorandum of Understanding aims to enhance cooperation in the fields of science and technology between the two institutions.
The memorandum was signed by COMSTECH General Coordinator Professor Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Chowdhury, while Baku University was represented by its Rector Professor Dr. Elchin Babayev.
The two sides agreed to establish the OIC-COMSTECH Chair in Emerging Technologies at Baku University on a joint funding basis. The university was also granted membership in the COMSTECH Consortium of Excellence (CCoE). They also agreed to announce scholarships in the field of chemical sciences in honor of academician Professor Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Chowdhury.
Among the things that were also agreed upon was facilitating the admission of Palestinian students to the university.
Azerbaijan will also host the third meeting of the OIC-15 Dialogue Platform, in addition to organizing the OIC Technology Festival at Baku University.
The MoU is a step towards enhancing scientific cooperation and knowledge exchange among OIC member states.
This partnership will contribute to advancing research and education in emerging technologies, encouraging innovation, and supporting students and researchers across OIC countries.
