
ISLAMABAD (UNA) – The Standing Ministerial Committee for Scientific and Technological Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has decided to
COMSTECH launches its Expert Service Programme to enhance technological cooperation among OIC member states, as a follow-up to preliminary discussions with OIC Secretary General H.E. Mr. Hussein Ibrahim Taha.
This came during a meeting of the Advisory Committee of the COMSTECH Expert Service Programme, chaired by the General Coordinator, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Chowdhury, and attended by the Chairman of the Committee, Prof. Dr. Shahid Mahmood Baig, former President, Pakistan Science Foundation and Head, Department of Life Sciences, Health Services Academy, and Prof. Dr. Moizur Rahman, Director, Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology, University of the Punjab.
The General Coordinator of COMSTECH explained that the program aims to build a strong network of experts, engineers, technicians and professionals to provide practical training and exchange knowledge, based on the realization of the rich and under-utilized technical potential in the member states.
The programme seeks to achieve a set of main objectives, the most important of which are facilitating the transfer of technical expertise and best practices, enhancing technical capabilities through training and capacity building programmes, as well as establishing a collaborative network among experts, and promoting the values of solidarity, volunteerism and shared responsibility within the OIC community.
The program will support various fields, most notably biomedical engineering and health, renewable energy, information technology, as well as manufacturing and engineering industries, in addition to agriculture and
Urban planning, smart cities, etc.
The participants expressed their appreciation for this initiative, affirming their full cooperation to make it a successful, vibrant and productive initiative.
This programme is a strategic step towards enhancing technological self-reliance, achieving sustainable development, and reducing the migration of talents in the OIC member states.
It also reflects the values of cooperation and mutual benefit, which enhances the collective progress of the organization's community.
