Al-Sudais announces that the building of the expansion of the Mataf in the Grand Mosque will be called the “Saudi Arcade”.

Makkah Al-Mukarramah (UNA) – The General President for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, Sheikh Dr. Abdul Rahman bin Abdulaziz Al-Sudais, announced the issuance of the kind approval to name the (Saudi Gallery) building for the expansion of the Mataf project in the Grand Mosque.
He said, “The Saudi portico, which includes the project of expanding the Mataf behind the Abbasid portico, and surrounds it and the courtyard of the Holy Kaaba, came when the founding imam, King Abdulaziz, ordered the construction of an expansion of the Grand Mosque to accommodate the increasing numbers of pilgrims, given the need for that, and work began on it during the reign of King Saud in 1375 AH. / 1955 AD, and the building of the gallery continued during the era of King Saud, King Faisal, and King Khalid - may God have mercy on them all - to complete its development during the era of King Fahd and King Abdullah - may God have mercy on them - and until the era of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud - may God protect him -.”
And Dr. Al-Sudais stated that the Saudi portico surrounds the Abbasid portico to complement it, with its distinction in a wider area that the Grand Mosque has not seen before, as it consists of (XNUMX) floors, which are the ground floor, the first floor and the second floor “mezzanine”, and the roof. The capacity of the Saudi portico has become (XNUMX) worshipers, and (XNUMX) pilgrims per hour in the portico and the courtyard.
He pointed out that the Saudi portico provides wider spaces for sectarians and worshipers, according to high-quality and accurate engineering standards.
And Dr. Al-Sudais asked God Almighty to reward the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Highness the Crown Prince, the faithful, with the best reward for the great support and care they provide for the Two Holy Mosques and those who visit them.
