Jeddah (UNA) – The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) welcomed the commencement of the second phase of the comprehensive peace plan under UN Security Council Resolution 2803 and the announcement of the formation of the Palestinian Committee for the Administration of the Gaza Strip as a temporary transitional body.
The General Secretariat of the Organization also emphasizes the need to preserve the geographical and institutional unity between the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including the occupied city of Jerusalem, and to pressure the Israeli occupation to stop all its crimes and policies aimed at undermining the two-state solution, including policies of annexation, settlement, Judaization of the city of Jerusalem, forced displacement and settler terrorism, as well as obliging it to release the Palestinian tax revenues that are being illegally withheld.
It also stressed the need to enable the Palestinian government to exercise its authority over all Palestinian territory, leading to the end of the Israeli occupation of all Palestinian territories occupied in 1967, and the achievement of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on UN resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
