Jeddah (UNA) – The Executive Director of the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission, Dr. Hadi bin Ali Al-Yami, expressed his appreciation to the General Secretariat for bringing together the organization’s institutions under one platform, to renew the spirit of joint work and consolidate the collective commitment to noble principles, through the ninth annual coordination meeting of the organization’s institutions, which was held today, Thursday, December 11, 2025, at the organization’s headquarters.
He affirmed that the Authority continues to develop its performance and enhance its competencies through a constructive and cooperative approach, based on deep Islamic values and consistent with international human rights principles, in addition to its current work on preparing a strategic plan for the next five years, which will contribute to increasing the Authority’s effectiveness and enabling it to serve member states more effectively.
Al-Yami summarized the most prominent achievements of the Authority during the past year as follows:
• Strengthening the advisory and expert role of the Commission through thematic studies, fact-finding missions, workshops, and expert consultations, which have provided Member States with practical tools to deal with complex human rights issues.
• Organizing thematic sessions, including the upcoming twenty-sixth session, which this year is dedicated to youth development, in the belief that empowering youth is essential for development and stability in member states.
• Supporting the Palestinian cause by monitoring violations committed by the occupying regime, calling for accountability, and keeping the issue at the forefront of international human rights attention.
• Openness to international mechanisms and strengthening the international presence of the organization, through activating communication with United Nations institutions, contractual and non-contractual mechanisms, and active participation in international discussions related to human rights, which would contribute to strengthening the presence of the organization and member states on the international stage, conveying the issues of the Islamic world more effectively, and consolidating the image of the organization as a bridge of communication between Islamic values and the international community.
• Expanding and strengthening partnerships with governments, national institutions and United Nations bodies, thereby enhancing integration of positions and consolidating the presence of the organization’s member states in the global human rights arena.
• To affirm the link between Islamic values and international standards, and to highlight the solid moral foundation that these values provide for protecting human dignity and preserving human rights.
Al-Yami praised what came out in the meeting, stressing that the discussions proved that no real progress can be achieved in isolation from close cooperation between the institutions of the organization, and that the challenges facing the Islamic world from conflicts and humanitarian and developmental crises require a common vision and coordinated responses. He announced the renewal of the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission’s commitment to strengthening its cooperation with all the institutions of the organization, and developing joint initiatives that include research, studies, training programs and field work, in order to enhance our collective ability to serve the noble goals of peace, justice and sustainable development in the member states.
