Jeddah (UNA) – The Ministerial Committee assigned by the Extraordinary Joint Arab-Islamic Summit on Developments in the Gaza Strip, which includes the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Republic of Indonesia, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the State of Palestine, the State of Qatar, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Republic of Turkey, the League of Arab States, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, the Republic of Chad, the Republic of Djibouti, the Republic of Gambia, the State of Kuwait, the State of Libya, Malaysia, the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, the Sultanate of Oman, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Federal Republic of Somalia, the Republic of Sudan, the United Arab Emirates, and the Republic of Yemen, expresses its strong condemnation and categorical rejection of Israel’s announcement of its intention to impose full military control over the Gaza Strip. It considers this announcement to constitute a dangerous and unacceptable escalation, a violation of international law, and an attempt to consolidate the illegal occupation and impose a fait accompli by force in contravention of relevant international legitimacy resolutions.
We affirm that this declared trend by Israel is a continuation of its gross violations based on killing, starvation, attempts at forced displacement, annexation of Palestinian land, and settler terrorism, which may amount to crimes against humanity. It also dispels any opportunity to achieve peace, undermines regional and international efforts to calm the situation and end the conflict, and increases the gross violations against the Palestinian people, who have been facing, for 22 months, a comprehensive aggression and blockade that has affected all aspects of life in the Gaza Strip, as well as serious violations in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
In light of this dangerous development, we stress the following:
• The necessity of an immediate and comprehensive cessation of the Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip, and an end to the ongoing violations committed by the occupation forces against civilians and infrastructure in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem.
• Demanding that Israel, as the occupying power, urgently and unconditionally allow the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, including adequate food, medicine, and fuel, and ensure the freedom of action of relief agencies and international humanitarian organizations in accordance with international humanitarian law and applicable international humanitarian standards.
• Supporting the ceasefire efforts undertaken by the Arab Republic of Egypt, the State of Qatar, and the United States of America, to reach an agreement to exchange prisoners and hostages, as a basic humanitarian approach to de-escalation, alleviate suffering, and end the Israeli aggression.
The necessity of working to immediately begin implementing the Arab-Islamic plan to rebuild the Gaza Strip, and calling for active participation in the Gaza Reconstruction Conference scheduled to be held in Cairo soon.
We reject and condemn any attempts to displace the Palestinian people from their land in Gaza and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem. We emphasize the need to preserve the legal and historical status quo at the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, while recognizing the essential role played by the Hashemite Custodianship in this regard.
• Emphasizing that a just and lasting peace can only be achieved through the implementation of the two-state solution, ensuring the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the June 1967, XNUMX, lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the principles of international law and relevant United Nations resolutions.
We hold the Israeli occupation fully responsible for the crimes of genocide and the unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe taking place in the Gaza Strip. We call on the international community, particularly the permanent members of the Security Council, to assume their legal and humanitarian responsibilities and take urgent action to halt Israel's aggressive policies, which aim to undermine the chances of achieving a just and lasting peace and to eliminate the prospects for implementing the two-state solution and achieving a just and comprehensive peace. We also call on Israel to immediately hold accountable all violations of international law and international humanitarian law, including those amounting to crimes of genocide.
We also emphasize the need to work to implement the outcomes of the high-level conference for a peaceful settlement of the Palestinian issue and the implementation of the two-state solution, which was held in New York under the chairmanship of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of France. We also emphasize the urgent executive measures included in the final document within a timetable for ending the war in Gaza, and the commitment to a political path for a comprehensive peaceful settlement of the Palestinian issue and the implementation of the two-state solution.
