The First International Forum to Promote Integrity and Combat Corruption in the Tourism SectorOrganization of Islamic Cooperation

The first international forum to promote integrity in the tourism sector concludes.

Jeddah (UNA) – Mr. Hussein Ibrahim Taha, Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), participated in the closing session of the First International Forum for Promoting Integrity in the Tourism Sector, organized by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha), in partnership with the Republic of Maldives, represented by the Anti-Corruption Commission, on May 6 and 7, 2025, in cooperation with the OIC, with broad participation from Islamic countries and international organizations specialized in combating corruption.

The forum was honored by the Vice President of the Republic of Maldives, in addition to the attendance and participation of more than (190) officials and experts from (50) countries, representing governmental bodies and international and regional organizations concerned with combating corruption and tourism.

For his part, the Secretary-General expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Anti-Corruption Commission of the Republic of Maldives for their contribution to strengthening the Organization's efforts to promote integrity in the tourism sector.

During the closing session of the forum, His Excellency Dr. Nasser bin Ahmed Aba Al-Khail, Undersecretary for International Cooperation at the Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority, read out the practical recommendations issued by the forum, most notably the emphasis on the importance of the Makkah Agreement for Cooperation between Law Enforcement Agencies and the call for its swift signing and ratification by member states to activate it and bring it into effect.

The forum represented an important opportunity to expand partnerships, enhance integration among member states, build tourism systems based on trust and transparency, and affirm the collective commitment to implementing Resolutions No. (2/50 - Q.T.) issued by the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and (2/2 - A.Q.F.) issued by the Second Ministerial Meeting of Anti-Corruption Agencies.

The Forum welcomed the Kingdom of Morocco's hosting of the Second International Forum on Promoting Integrity in the Tourism Sector, as part of continuing joint efforts to support transparency in the tourism sector in the organization's member states.
