The First International Forum to Promote Integrity and Combat Corruption in the Tourism SectorOrganization of Islamic Cooperation

The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation holds a series of meetings during his visit to the Republic of Maldives.

Jeddah (UNA) – During his visit to the Republic of Maldives, where he headed the General Secretariat delegation participating in the Saudi-Maldivian Joint International Forum entitled “Combating Corruption and Promoting Integrity in the Tourism Sector,” held on 6-7 May 2025, the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), His Excellency Mr. Hussain Ibrahim Taha, held several meetings with His Excellency the President of the Republic and senior officials in the Maldives. His Excellency President Mohamed Moez, President of the Republic, praised the effective role of the OIC and its continued support for the Republic of Maldives. For his part, the Secretary General commended the role of the Republic of Maldives within the OIC and its contributions to joint Islamic action.

The Secretary-General also met with Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullah Khalil. Both sides commended the strong relations between the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Republic of Maldives and discussed a number of issues on the OIC agenda, most notably the Palestinian cause. They reaffirmed their full support for this cause and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.

The Secretary-General met with Dr. Mohamed Shahim Ali Saeed, Minister of Islamic Affairs, and discussed with him aspects of cooperation between the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Republic of Maldives and its prospects in areas of common interest.

These meetings were an opportunity for the Secretary-General to emphasize the importance of the joint Saudi-Maldives international forum entitled “Combating Corruption and Promoting Integrity in the Tourism Sector,” and to congratulate him on the success of its work.
