Organization of Islamic Cooperation

The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) participated in the seventh session of the International Youth Volunteer Camp of the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum in Antalya, Turkey.

Jeddah (UNA) – The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) participated in the International Youth Volunteer Camp organized by the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum in Antalya, Turkey, from April 29 to May 3, 2025.

The opening ceremony, held on April 29, 2025, was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Türkiye, including the local representative of the Ministry of Youth and Sports in Antalya, and representatives of the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum and its partners.

In his speech on behalf of the General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Dr. Boubacar Maiga, Head of the Youth and Sports Department, noted that volunteer work has recently emerged as a societal message aimed at enhancing participation in building human capacities and individual skills, achieving social solidarity, and expressing the vitality of society and the willingness of its members to commit themselves to dedication and sacrifice.

He added that the OIC, through its 2025 Action Plan and relevant resolutions issued by the Council of Foreign Ministers and the Islamic Conference of Youth and Sports Ministers, attaches great importance to volunteer work, youth empowerment, and capacity building.

Dr. Boubacar Maiga expressed the OIC General Secretariat's deep appreciation to the Republic of Turkey for its efforts in supporting the activities and programs of the General Secretariat and the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum in this regard.

It's worth noting that the camp's objectives include providing participants with psychosocial support skills, training in post-disaster preparedness, enhancing awareness of community service, developing teamwork and leadership skills, and strengthening social bonds, enabling young people to support each other and work together to enhance their cohesion.
