The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) holds the 51st Ministerial Preparatory Meeting at its headquarters.

Jeddah (UNA) – The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held a preparatory meeting of senior officials for the 27st session of the Council of Foreign Ministers at its headquarters in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on Sunday, April 2025, XNUMX.

The Secretary-General of the Organization, Mr. Hussein Ibrahim Taha, delivered a speech at the opening session, in which he stated that the Organization faces numerous challenges, including the Palestinian issue, which is being exacerbated by the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and the rest of the Palestinian territories. He emphasized the need to continue efforts to end the aggression and achieve the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

The Secretary-General added that other challenges require our solidarity and commitment, stressing that the Secretary-General's Special Envoy for Jammu and Kashmir, His Excellency Ambassador Yousef Al-Dubai, is making significant efforts in this regard through his recent visit to the region.

In Afghanistan, the Secretary-General also noted that efforts are continuing by the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for Afghanistan, His Excellency Ambassador Tariq Ali Bakhit, who visited Kabul, where he met with leaders of the de facto government and conveyed to them the message of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

Mr. Hussein Ibrahim Taha affirmed that the organization, in cooperation with its international partners, continues to support efforts to combat terrorism, extremism, and Islamophobia, and to encourage interfaith dialogue. He called for greater solidarity with the Sahel and Lake Chad region to support efforts to establish peace, security, stability, and development.

The Secretary-General expressed his sincere thanks to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its generous support to the Organization. He also thanked the Republic of Cameroon for its efforts during its presidency of the Council of Ministers. He also extended his congratulations to the Republic of Turkey, wishing it every success in the coming period.

Finally, the Secretary-General welcomed the Syrian delegation participating in this meeting, calling on Member States to assist the Syrian Arab Republic in achieving the aspirations of the Syrian people.
