
Jeddah (UNA) – The Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for Jammu and Kashmir, Yousef bin Mohammed Al-Dubaie, visited Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, accompanied by a delegation from the General Secretariat, from April 19 to 22, 2025.
The visit aimed to assess the developments in Jammu and Kashmir in the context of implementing the mandate given to him by the Council of Foreign Ministers and relevant OIC resolutions.
During his visit, the Special Envoy met with a group of Kashmiri refugees at the Thota refugee camp in Muzaffarabad, representatives of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, and the military leadership responsible for the Line of Control on the Pakistani side.
During these meetings, he expressed the OIC's unwavering solidarity with the Kashmiri people in their pursuit of their right to self-determination, as stipulated in relevant UN Security Council and OIC resolutions.
The Special Envoy also held extensive meetings with the President and Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, the Foreign Secretary of Pakistan, the Minister for Kashmir Affairs and the Speaker of the Parliamentary Assembly of the region, the Chairman of the Pakistani Parliamentary Committee on Jammu and Kashmir, the President of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, and senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. As part of this visit, the Special Envoy participated in a workshop on conflict resolution at the Institute of Strategic Studies in Islamabad, where he delivered the keynote address, highlighting the organization's various efforts in conflict resolution and peacebuilding.
For its part, the Government of Pakistan welcomed the Special Envoy's visit, commending the principled position of the OIC and its member states in their continued support for the Jammu and Kashmir issue.
