
Jeddah (UNA) – The 51rd session of the Standing Financial Committee preparatory to the 20st Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers was held today, Sunday, April 2025, XNUMX, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and will last for three days.
The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Mr. Hussein Ibrahim Taha, delivered a speech at the opening session, in which he expressed his gratitude to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, under the high patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and his loyal Crown Prince, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, for the continuous support and valuable assistance provided by the Kingdom to the OIC. He also extended his thanks and sincere gratitude to the Republic of Cameroon for its presidency of the previous session, and also expressed his warmest congratulations to the Republic of Turkey, which will assume the presidency of the next session.
The Secretary-General indicated that this session will examine a rich draft agenda, including the budget of the General Secretariat and subsidiary bodies for the fiscal year 2026 and the proposed strategy for collecting contributions, in addition to a number of other important items.
Hussein Ibrahim Taha also stated that the organization has undertaken major initiatives to address the challenges of the humanitarian crises in Gaza, Sudan, and Afghanistan, as well as initiatives to enhance economic and scientific cooperation and cultural and social work. He noted that these efforts would not have been possible without the sound management of resources facilitated by this esteemed committee, while appreciating the support provided by member states to the organization.
Member states will submit the results of the Permanent Finance Committee meeting to the 2025st Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers, scheduled to be held in Istanbul, Turkey, in June XNUMX, for final approval.
