The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation: The UN General Assembly's declaration of the "International Day Against Islamophobia" is a turning point in the fight against religious discrimination.

Jeddah (UNA) – In his message to the Islamic world on the occasion of the International Day to Combat Islamophobia, which falls on March 15 of each year, the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Mr. Hussein Ibrahim Taha, stressed that the United Nations General Assembly’s declaration of the International Day to Combat Islamophobia marked a turning point in the fight against religious discrimination, and this is a crucial moment in our quest for mutual understanding and respect.

He added, "Anti-Muslim incidents continue to multiply, with online hate speech, attacks on places of worship, discrimination, and the rise of Islamophobia in some political and social discourse threatening the principles of human dignity and religious freedom. This challenge requires collective action and an innovative response."

The Secretary-General noted that the OIC, in cooperation with its partners, continues to promote effective strategies to combat Islamophobia, enhance legal protection for minorities, and combat religious hatred in all its forms. He emphasized the need for interfaith and intercultural dialogue to build lasting bridges of understanding.

“Let us renew our commitment to creating a world where everyone can practice their religion in complete freedom, where diversity becomes cultural richness, and where mutual respect triumphs over prejudice,” the Secretary-General said.
