The Organization of Islamic Cooperation expresses its solidarity with the Arab Republic of Egypt regarding the statements of the Israeli Prime Minister regarding the Salah al-Din “Philadelphia” axis

Jeddah (UNA) - The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Hussein Ibrahim Taha, condemned the irresponsible statements of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the Arab Republic of Egypt by justifying the illegal presence of the Israeli occupation forces in the Salah al-Din “Philadelphi” axis, considering this an evasion of his responsibility for disrupting the ceasefire agreement and prolonging the Israeli military aggression, genocide, starvation, siege and forced displacement of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.

The Secretary-General also expressed the Organization's solidarity with the Arab Republic of Egypt and support for its historic role in maintaining peace, security and stability in the region, calling on the international community to assume its responsibilities towards imposing an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire and ensuring the complete withdrawal of Israel, the occupying power, from the Philadelphi corridor and all parts of the Gaza Strip, in implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2735 of 10 June 2024.

The Secretary-General of the Organization also condemned the Israeli Prime Minister’s presentation of a map that does not include the occupied West Bank, considering it an extension of racist and illegitimate Israeli policies based on denying the existence and legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and an attempt to consolidate the illegal colonial occupation and settlement regime on the occupied Palestinian territory, which threatens to undermine the two-state solution. He called on the international community, especially the UN Security Council and the UN General Assembly, to implement the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice on the illegality of the Israeli occupation, and to consider the additional measures necessary to end Israel’s illegal presence in the occupied Palestinian territory as soon as possible.
