grandmother (UNA) - The extraordinary open-ended meeting of the Executive Committee at the level of foreign ministers of the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation condemned the continued war crimes, aggression and genocide committed by Israel, the illegal occupying power, in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including the city of Al-Quds Al-Sharif.

This came in the final statement issued by the meeting held today, Wednesday, at the headquarters of the Organization’s General Secretariat in Jeddah, in the presence of heads of delegations, members of the Executive Committee and member states of the Organization, to discuss the continuing crimes of the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people and its assault on the sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The meeting demanded an immediate cessation of the Israeli aggression and the policy of torture, starvation and collective punishment practiced against the Palestinian people, stressing its categorical rejection and confrontation by all means of any attempt to displace, expel or forcibly transfer the Palestinian people from their land.

The meeting strongly condemned the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the former Palestinian Prime Minister, while he was in the Iranian capital, Tehran, holding Israel fully responsible for this heinous attack, which constitutes a crime of aggression, a flagrant violation of international law and the Charter of the United Nations, and a serious assault on the sovereignty, territorial integrity and national security of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The meeting warned that the continuation of Israel's crimes undermines security and stability in the region, calling for immediate and effective intervention from the UN Security Council within the framework of its responsibilities to maintain international peace and security.

The Executive Committee meeting reaffirmed the central nature of the issue of Palestine and Al-Quds Al-Sharif for the entire Islamic nation, and the necessity of preserving the Arab and Islamic identity of the city of Al-Quds Al-Sharif and Palestinian sovereignty over it as an integral part of the Palestinian territory occupied since 1967 and the capital of the State of Palestine.

He also stressed the need to respect the existing legal and historical status of the holy sites, especially the Blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif, with its entire area of ​​144.000 square metres, as it is a pure place of worship for Muslims only.

He warned of the escalation in the pace of Israeli colonial settlement, the danger of annexation of the occupied Palestinian territory, and the daily attacks and crimes committed by the Israeli occupation army and terrorist settler militias in the West Bank, including the occupied city of Jerusalem, against defenseless Palestinian citizens, their property, land, and sanctities, for the purpose of forcibly displacing them.

In this regard, the Executive Committee emphasized what was stated in the legal fatwa regarding the illegality of settlement in the Palestinian territories and the necessity of ending the occupation, dismantling all settlements and evacuating all settlers, calling for the necessity of taking the necessary steps to hold settlers accountable for their crimes, including imposing penalties on them and their status. On terrorist lists, and prosecuted.

The meeting expressed its deep concern about the continuation and intensification of Israel's brutal crimes and unprecedented violations against thousands of Palestinian prisoners by committing crimes of execution, torture, starvation, rape, isolation, and cases of forced disappearance, especially against detainees from the Gaza Strip, which led to the martyrdom of dozens of them.

He called on the relevant international organizations, including the International Committee of the Red Cross, to reveal the fate of the Palestinian prisoners, work to release them immediately, ensure protection for them, and demand an independent investigation into all Israeli crimes and violations against them.

In this regard, the meeting took note of the report of the High Commissioner for Human Rights on the occupation’s crimes against prisoners and the systematic increase in cases of arbitrary detention pursued by the Israeli occupation forces since October 7, 2023, stressing the necessity of obligating Israel, the illegal occupation authority, to deal with Palestinian prisoners in accordance with the law. International humanitarian law, international conventions, and relevant United Nations rules.

The meeting strongly condemned the adoption by Israel, the illegal occupying power, of illegal racist laws, including the decision to reject the establishment of a Palestinian state and classify UNRWA as a terrorist organization, as part of attempts to undermine its role and prevent it from working in the occupied Palestinian territory as part of its targeting of the issue of Palestine refugees and the Palestinian existence. As well as the decision to “legitimize” settlement outposts and pirate Palestinian tax funds.

He reaffirmed what was stated in the legal advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice, which states that there is no sovereignty for the occupying state over the Palestinian land occupied in 1967, and that the right to self-determination for the Palestinian people confirms the geography of the right and their right to their independent state, and calls on the international community to intervene decisively to confront these Israeli measures. Illegal and stop them.

The extraordinary meeting of the Executive Committee called on the UN Security Council to assume its responsibilities for imposing an immediate and comprehensive cessation of the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people and ensuring the adequate and sustainable delivery of humanitarian aid to all parts of the Gaza Strip, by implementing Resolutions 2720 and 2728 and providing international protection for the Palestinian people.

He called on all countries to take the necessary measures to prevent Israel, the illegal occupying power, from continuing its crimes against the Palestinian people and to ensure respect and implementation of the relevant United Nations resolutions as well as the precautionary orders issued by the International Court of Justice for the crime of genocide.

He also called on all member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to stand in solidarity in confronting the lawless behavior committed by Israel, the occupying power, which expands the conflict in the region and endangers regional peace and security, by taking the necessary diplomatic, legal and political steps in order to change the escalatory path. in the region and seek to find a path towards regional and international peace and stability.

He warned against the continuing incursions into the Blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif, especially by the Israeli Minister of National Security, which represents a provocative step condemned in the strongest terms and represents a flagrant and unacceptable violation of international law and the existing historical and legal situation in Jerusalem and its sanctities, and a dangerous escalation.

The meeting urged the international community, including the Security Council, to work immediately to stop this escalation through effective steps that would oblige Israel, the occupying power, to stop its attacks on the Palestinian people and its violations of international law and international humanitarian law, and not to take any provocative steps in Jerusalem. Al-Sharif would offend the feelings of two billion Muslims around the world and threaten security and stability in the region, stressing that Israel has no sovereignty over Jerusalem and the holy sites, and that East Jerusalem is occupied Palestinian land.

He called on all countries to abide by their responsibilities under international law and the purposes and objectives of the United Nations Charter and its resolutions and not to provide any kind of aid, cooperation or support to Israel, the occupying power, that would contribute to prolonging the illegal Israeli occupation on Palestinian land and grant it impunity. It encourages him to continue committing his crimes and flagrant violations of international law and relevant United Nations resolutions.

The meeting affirmed its support for the efforts aimed at holding Israel, the illegal occupying power, accountable for its ongoing violations and crimes against the Palestinian people. It welcomed, in this regard, the recent legal advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice confirming the illegality of the presence of “Israel” in the occupied Palestinian territory and its colonial settlement.

In this regard, he also called for taking the necessary measures to end the illegal presence of the Israeli occupation in the occupied Palestinian territory as soon as possible. Calling on the International Criminal Court to quickly complete the investigation into war crimes and crimes against humanity committed and still being committed by officials of the occupation government.
