The Permanent Council of the Islamic Solidarity Fund holds its sixty-seventh session in Jeddah

Jeddah (UNA) - The Permanent Council of the Islamic Solidarity Fund held its sixty-seventh session today, Wednesday, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Jeddah.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Hussein Ibrahim Taha, delivered a speech in which he indicated that the decision to establish the Islamic Solidarity Fund as a branch of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation is a practical step to consolidate the concept of Islamic solidarity among Muslims in the East and West of the world.

He stressed that the breakthrough to the stages of maturity to serve pressing Muslim issues came after the formation and establishment, saying: “Thanks to this success, the Islamic Solidarity Fund of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation has assumed a prominent position among global institutions concerned with humanitarian aspects, and the Fund’s projects have witnessed in all sectors of its educational and cultural activities.” And health, social and religious, which calls us to be proud of these important achievements, especially the Islamic universities of Niger and Uganda, which express the efforts of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the Fund is considered the main financier of them, and has proven its effectiveness through its services in the field of higher education for the benefit of the Islamic peoples.”

The Secretary-General noted that the Islamic Solidarity Fund of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation is considered the important humanitarian financial arm of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, calling on all member states, without exception, to contribute to supporting the Fund financially with voluntary donations commensurate with the ability of each of them, to contribute to developing the Fund’s activity and expanding its scope of reach.

He said: “The Islamic guarantor is a joint and comprehensive effort that expresses the spirit of cooperation and solidarity in accordance with the teachings of our tolerant Sharia.”

In turn, the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation spoke about the scope of the Palestinian issue, and the importance of the city of Jerusalem, for its fundamental role in preserving Islamic and Arab rights in that holy city, as it is one of the areas of civilizational conflict between the Islamic project on the one hand, and the Zionist project that aims to isolate it socially and economically from its Arab surroundings. Geographic and demographic.

He said in his speech, addressing everyone: “I appeal to your esteemed council to continue the Fund’s giving to support Jerusalem, health and educational projects in the State of Palestine, in a way that strengthens the steadfastness of the Palestinian people, in the face of the fierce attack and unjust siege of the Zionist occupation.”

At the conclusion of his speech, the Secretary-General extended his deep thanks and gratitude to both the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the State of the United Arab Emirates for their ongoing generous voluntary annual donation to support the resources of the Islamic Solidarity Fund and its endowment. Thanks are also extended to the countries that have donated to the Fund during the past periods, and we hope that they will return as they were a contributor. Strong resources for the fund.

He specifically thanked Ambassador Nasser Abdullah bin Hamdan Al Zaabi, Chairman of the Fund’s Permanent Council, for his tireless efforts and continued support for the Fund and its activities. He said: “We are proud that His Excellency received the King Faisal Award for Service to Islam for the year 2023 AD in recognition of his distinguished work and efforts in the charitable and relief field.”

 The Secretary-General thanked the Executive Director, Mr. Muhammad bin Sulaiman Aba Al-Khail, for his direct follow-up of the Fund’s activity and its efforts to develop work and improve performance, noting that thanks go to the members of the Permanent Council for their presence to enrich the discussions and follow-up in supporting the Fund’s progress, asking God Almighty to crown the work of their meeting. The session also discussed a number of the Council's activities, programs, and the extensive assistance it provides to the organization's member states.
