The Organization of Islamic Cooperation condemns the new provocative act of desecrating copies of the Holy Quran in Sweden

Jeddah (UNA) – The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned in the strongest terms the new provocative act of desecrating copies of the Holy Quran, which took place on Saturday, September 30, 2023, in Malmö, Sweden, despite repeated calls to the Swedish authorities to prevent the recurrence of such offensive acts.

The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Hussein Ibrahim Taha, reaffirmed the organization’s position expressed by the Council of Foreign Ministers in the resolution adopted at its eighteenth special session held on July 31, 2023, dedicated to the repeated incidents of desecration of copies of the Holy Qur’an.

The Secretary-General reiterated the OIC’s call on the Swedish authorities to take immediate measures against such provocative acts, which constitute acts of religious hatred and are considered a violation of international law, and to work to prevent their recurrence.
