ISESCO organizes a training course in Gabon on the registration of cultural elements on heritage lists

Libreville (UNA) - The training course, organized by the Culture and Communication Sector of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), kicked off on Tuesday in the Gabonese capital, Libreville, on preparing files for registering cultural elements on heritage lists, and introducing those responsible for culture and heritage in the Republic of Gabon. The areas of work of the ISESCO Center for Heritage in the Islamic World, the procedures for registering heritage sites and cultural elements on ISESCO's lists of heritage in the Islamic world, and the development of a framework for follow-up and support for registration files. During the opening of the session, Adrian Djembe, Director of Cultural Heritage at the Gabonese Ministry of Culture and Arts, praised the significant development witnessed by ISESCO and Gabon in the fields of culture, heritage and arts. For his part, Dr. Mohammed Aba Osman, an expert in the culture and communication sector of ISESCO, reviewed the efforts of the organization and the Heritage Center in the Islamic World to value cultural heritage, stressing ISESCO's support for its member states in protecting heritage sites and monuments, rehabilitating them and registering them on heritage lists in the Islamic world. At the end of the training course, in which 13 officials of the Ministry of Culture and Arts of the Republic of Gabon, as well as a number of researchers, specialists and students, will participate, five files will be prepared for registering two sites of tangible heritage and three cultural elements of intangible heritage, according to the requirements of registration on ISESCO's lists of heritage in the Islamic world.
