The Secretary General of Islamic Cooperation meets the foreign ministers of Kyrgyzstan, Senegal and the Maldives

Jeddah (UNA) – The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Dr. Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen, held meetings yesterday, Monday (November 25, 2019), at the headquarters of the General Secretariat, with Chingiz Aidarbekov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, Amadou Ba, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Senegal, and Abdullah Shahid, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives. The Secretary General appreciated the participation of the ministers of the member states in the celebration marking the fiftieth anniversary of the founding of the Organization, stressing that this participation reflects the extent of interest and special status enjoyed by the OIC among the member states. The Secretary General conveyed his gratitude and appreciation to the ministers for the active participation and valuable contributions of their countries to the joint Islamic action. These meetings also represented an opportunity to consult on a number of current issues in the Islamic world and coordinate efforts to promote peace, stability and development in the region and the world. On the same day, the Secretary General received the German Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Niels Annan. During this meeting, satisfaction was expressed over the fruitful relations between the Organization and Germany, and views were exchanged on possible ways to further enhance them. Consultations were held on a number of international issues of common interest, and the role played by both sides in promoting peace, security and humanitarian work was appreciated. (End) S.J./H.S.
