At the Conference of Culture Ministers: Madani calls for a reconsideration of the cultural strategy of the Islamic world

Muscat (INA) – The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Iyad Amin Madani, has called for a reconsideration of the cultural strategy for the Islamic world, and the establishment of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Festival for Cultural Expression on the sidelines of each session of the Islamic Conference of Culture Ministers, which is held every two years. In his speech at the opening of the Ninth Islamic Conference of Culture Ministers, which kicked off in the Omani capital, Muscat, on November 2015, 2016, the Secretary-General encouraged Member States to be more active in implementing initiatives aimed at increasing cultural exchange among them, calling for To hold forums and events and establish channels of interaction within the framework of the organization, and to introduce more of these forums so that they have the widest impact. Madani also highlighted the challenges facing the Islamic world, which are represented in the culture of injustice and aggression, the culture of discrimination, the culture of marginalization, the culture of destruction, and the culture of misinterpretation that exacerbates sectarian division. In this context, and in order to address these challenges, the Secretary-General presented proposals to move forward and build on what has been achieved so far, including building bridges for cultural exchange, and holding workshops and cultural events, stressing the need for a proactive approach regarding the way Islamic culture is presented to the public. others. Considering the danger threatening the Islamic cultural heritage, Madani called on the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) and the Research Center for Islamic History, Arts and Culture (IRCICA) to cooperate in order to hold an international symposium on Islamic action to preserve the cultural heritage in 38 AD. The Sultanate of Oman is hosting the Ninth Islamic Conference of Culture Ministers on the topic Towards a mediating and developmental culture for the advancement of Islamic societies, after the end of the term of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s presidency of the conference. The Omani Minister of Heritage and Culture, Haitham bin Tariq Al Said, announced the launch of the conference, during the opening ceremony, in which the Director General of ISESCO, Dr. Abdulaziz bin Othman Al-Tuwaijri, and the Minister of Culture and Information in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Dr. Adel bin Zaid Al-Tarifi, also spoke. The conference was attended by ministers and heads of delegations from 2015 member states, and a number of invitees representing observer member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and regional and international organizations. Within the activities of the Ninth Islamic Conference of Culture Ministers, the Omani city of Nizwa, the city of Almaty in Kazakhstan, and the city of Cotonou in Benin are celebrated as capitals of Islamic culture for the year XNUMX AD, as each of these three cities represents a geographical area of ​​the three regions of the organization.
