Riyadh (UNA/SPA) - The Public Investment Fund (PIF) announced today the establishment of QSAS Stories, which will develop interactive experiences that use advanced technology to tell stories inspired by the Kingdom’s culture, history, and Islamic heritage.
“Qissas” will specialize in developing, owning and operating world-class interactive exhibitions across the Kingdom, which will contribute to enriching the growing demand for unique cultural experiences provided to visitors, including pilgrims, Umrah performers and tourists.
“Qasas” will work to provide various types of interactive exhibitions, including main and mobile exhibitions, to provide experiences that address all the visitor’s senses, which will enhance the culture and tourism sectors in the Kingdom. The company will contribute to localizing and embodying the knowledge and technology related to the content industry, which will contribute to strengthening the position of the private sector and supporting the Kingdom’s position in this rapidly growing sector at the regional and global levels.
The company will aim to enrich the experiences of visitors, especially those interested in cultural content, by highlighting important historical events and inspiring figures from the Kingdom and the world. The company will launch locally by holding exhibitions that tell stories inspired by Islamic history and the Kingdom’s authentic heritage. The company will later expand to global markets while diversifying the sources of storytelling.
The establishment of the company is in line with the Public Investment Fund’s strategy to enhance the development of the local private sector, through partnerships in many fields such as construction, event management and technology. The company is expected to contribute to the creation of more than 11 direct and indirect jobs by 2030.
Mishari Al-Ibrahim, Director of the Entertainment, Tourism, Sports and Education Sector in the Middle East and North Africa Investments Department at the Public Investment Fund, explained that the tourism and entertainment sector is one of the strategic local sectors for the Fund, pointing to the focus on enriching the tourism and entertainment experience.
Al-Ibrahim stressed that “Qasas” Company will contribute to enhancing the Kingdom’s position as an attractive and authentic tourist destination, through the storytelling it provides inspired by history, culture and heritage. The company will also invest in local talent to build a new economic activity focused on providing interactive experiences, whose activities are witnessing significant global growth.
Qasas will complement other investments of the Fund in the tourism and entertainment sector, including Diriyah, one of the Fund’s major projects, in addition to Dan, a company specializing in rural and environmental tourism. The launch of the company is also in line with the objectives of the Guests of God Program, one of the programs to achieve the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, which aims to increase the capacity to 30 million pilgrims by 2030, and the National Tourism Strategy, which seeks to attract 150 million visitors annually by 2030 and enrich their experiences.
