Mauritania raises customs duties on rice and petroleum derivatives

Nouakchott (INA) – The Mauritanian government decided, Thursday, to raise customs duties on imported rice and petroleum derivatives, according to Finance Minister Mokhtar Ould Ajay. Commenting on the results of the cabinet meeting, the minister said that the local production of rice covers 75 percent of the local needs of this substance, adding that raising these fees comes within the framework of the government's efforts to search for reserve resources to cover its expenses.
