Ivory Coast plans to build the first plant in Africa that produces electricity from the plant at a cost of 50 million euros

(INA) - Ivory Coast plans to become, in less than two years, the first African country with a power plant using biomass to produce electricity. The project is implemented at the initiative of Biocola Company, and will be implemented in the town of Aboasso (100 km) east of Abidjan. The new plant is expected to produce about 288 GWh of electricity, and its construction will cost 50 million euros, according to the French-language Jeune Afrique website. In fact, the project requires about 300 tons of biomass, and palm fronds and trunks will be used to produce electricity. Biocola wants to transfer the project to African countries other than Ivory Coast, where power plants using biomass are still rare, with the exception of Kenya, which has a similar plant, according to the magazine.
