
PUTRAJAYA (UNA/BERNAMA) – Malaysia condemned the ongoing attacks on UN peacekeepers in Lebanon and expressed its condolences to Spain following the death of a Spanish peacekeeper serving with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon.
In its statement, Malaysia expressed its solidarity with UNIFIL and strongly condemned the ongoing attacks targeting UN peacekeepers..
She said: “These attacks on peacekeepers and civilians are a direct result of the Israeli regime’s violation of Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and cannot be justified under any circumstances.”
The Malaysian government expressed its deepest condolences to the family and government of Spain following the death of a Spanish peacekeeper last Thursday from injuries sustained in an incident near Marjeyoun in southern Lebanon on June 3.
She also expressed her hope for a speedy recovery for the peacekeepers from El Salvador and Spain who were injured in the same incident.
The ministry added: “Malaysia urges an end to this violence and calls on all parties to abide by international humanitarian law, to ensure the safety of UN peacekeepers and civilians in Lebanon.”
