Ankara (UNA/Anadolu) – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Türkiye’s greatest wish is for Syria to enjoy stability and peace.
This came in a speech on Wednesday during a meeting of the parliamentary bloc of his Justice and Development Party in the Turkish parliament, in the capital Ankara.
Erdogan stressed that Türkiye is not seeking to extend its influence in its region, nor does it have any desire to restructure other countries.
He added: “Our greatest wish is for Syria to enjoy stability and peace, and our desire is for our Syrian brothers to build their future together.”
He stressed that the roadmap for achieving lasting peace in Syria has become clear, emphasizing the need for the parties not to repeat their mistakes or poison the process with extreme demands.
He added: “Every drop of blood that is shed breaks our hearts, whether it is Arab, Turkmen, Kurdish, or Alawite. The loss of any life in Syria means that we lose a part of our own lives.”
He pointed out that the time has come to spend Syria’s resources and underground and surface wealth on the well-being of all segments of the population, instead of wasting them on digging tunnels under cities.
