The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights warns of escalating tensions in Sudan.

Geneva (UNA/WAS) – The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, warned of the expansion of the crimes committed in El Fasher last October to other areas in Sudan, stressing that they represent a human rights catastrophe.

In a briefing to the Human Rights Council during the interactive dialogue on the situation in Sudan, Turk warned of escalating violations in the Kordofan region, calling for urgent international action to protect civilians and to extend the arms embargo to cover all of Sudan.
