Riyadh (UNA/SPA) – The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s strong condemnation and denunciation of the criminal attacks launched by the Rapid Support Forces on Al-Kuweik Military Hospital, on a relief convoy belonging to the World Food Programme, and on a bus carrying displaced civilians, which resulted in the killing of dozens of unarmed civilians, including women and children, and damage to relief facilities and convoys in the states of North and South Kordofan.
The Kingdom affirmed that these actions cannot be justified under any circumstances, and constitute flagrant violations of all humanitarian norms and relevant international agreements.
The Kingdom demanded that the Rapid Support Forces immediately cease these violations and adhere to their moral and humanitarian duty to ensure the delivery of relief aid to those in need, in accordance with international and humanitarian laws, and what was stated in the Jeddah Declaration (Commitment to Protect Civilians in Sudan) signed on May 11, 2023.
The Kingdom reiterated its position calling for the unity, security and stability of Sudan, the need to preserve its legitimate institutions, and its rejection of foreign interference and the continued entry of illegal weapons, mercenaries and foreign fighters by some parties, despite these parties’ affirmation of their support for a political solution, in a behavior that is a major factor in prolonging the conflict and increasing the continued suffering of the Sudanese people.
