Juba (UNA) – The capital of South Sudan, Juba, witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding and cooperation between the Ugandan Supreme Islamic Council and the Islamic Council of South Sudan, to activate joint cooperation, exchange expertise and transfer the Ugandan Council’s expertise to the Muslim community in South Sudan. The memorandum seeks to enhance cooperation with relevant institutions in the regional environment, exchange expertise, visits and joint work to achieve coexistence and tolerance between communities in the two countries, work on joint cooperation and transfer the expertise of the Ugandan Supreme Islamic Council in the field of advocacy training to South Sudan, contribute to the establishment and development of educational institutions in South Sudan, cooperate in the areas of fatwa and Sharia judiciary and work to exchange expertise in the economic and agricultural fields. The memorandum was signed in the presence of the Mufti of Uganda, Advisor to the President of Uganda for Islamic Affairs, Sheikh Shaaban Ramadan Mubaji, Advisor to the President for Islamic Affairs, Sheikh Juma Saeed Ali, and the Secretary-General of the Islamic Council of South Sudan, Sheikh Abdullah Burj Rawal.
