The Egyptian Foreign Minister receives the Executive Director of the Women's Development Organization of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation

Cairo (UNA) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptians Abroad of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Dr. Badr Abdel-Aty, received today, Thursday, June 11, 2026, the Executive Director of the Women’s Development Organization of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Counselor Sarah Al-Shoura.

The Egyptian Foreign Minister expressed his aspiration to work jointly with the organization to promote pioneering and successful experiences in the field of enhancing the status of women and protecting their rights, as well as improving the organization’s performance through the exchange of experiences and best practices among member states.

Minister Abdel-Aati stressed the importance of developing a comprehensive vision to improve the organization’s performance and advance its agenda in the coming period, in order to achieve a qualitative leap in its activities and programs, and to create an incentive for new members to join.

He explained the importance of diversifying partnerships and cooperation with relevant regional, UN and international organizations, foremost among them UN Women, to support efforts to empower women and enhance their participation in various fields of development.

During the meeting, Minister Abdel-Aati congratulated Counselor Sarah Al-Shoura on assuming her new position, stressing the keenness to provide support and assistance to her during the next stage, to contribute to achieving the organization’s goals.

He also noted the continued interest in supporting and strengthening the work of the organization, based on its belief in the importance of its role in advancing the status of women in the Islamic world.
