
Capitals (UNA/QNA) – World leaders and international and regional organizations welcomed the announcement of an agreement on a memorandum of understanding between the United States of America and Iran, following complex and multilateral diplomatic efforts in which the State of Qatar played a supportive role, in a step considered a significant development in reducing tension in the region and enhancing international stability.
International reactions praising the agreement and the efforts of the mediators that paved the way for its achievement continued, reflecting broad support for diplomatic paths aimed at containing the escalation and promoting regional and international stability, and the implications this has for energy security, the stability of maritime routes, and the global economy.
In this context, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his gratitude to the United States and Iran for their commitment to reaching a diplomatic solution, while also expressing his appreciation for the mediation efforts made by the State of Qatar and its wise leadership, and for their support in reaching this agreement.
Sharif said in a post on the “X” platform that the peace agreement between the United States and Iran will be signed during an official ceremony next Friday in Switzerland.
He added that under this agreement, mediators will facilitate a series of meetings this week, noting that these preliminary discussions will pave the way for technical talks.
For its part, the Australian government appreciated the agreement between the United States and Iran, praising the efforts made by Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and other mediating countries to reach this understanding.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said in a statement today that restraint and constructive engagement are essential to preventing further escalation and ensuring a lasting agreement.
He expressed satisfaction with the progress made towards reopening the Strait of Hormuz, noting that a full recovery will take time, but stressed that restoring this vital trade route is crucial to easing pressure on energy prices and global economies.
He called on all parties to seize this opportunity to move towards a lasting and sustainable peace through dialogue and diplomacy, stressing the need to address concerns related to the Iranian nuclear program.
The Australian Prime Minister affirmed that his country will continue to work with its international partners to promote peace, stability and security in the Middle East.
For her part, Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi welcomed the announcement of an agreement on the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran, considering it “an important step towards containing the situation.”
In a post on the X website, Takaichi said that this announcement was the result of the efforts of the countries concerned seeking a diplomatic settlement, which continued to hold intensive talks during the past period, while praising the role of the mediators.
She expressed hope that a final agreement on the Iranian nuclear program and other issues could be reached as soon as possible, while ensuring freedom of navigation and security through the Strait of Hormuz.
In France, President Emmanuel Macron welcomed the agreement, noting that it was “the fruit of a diplomatic effort in which a number of partners contributed.”
In a post on the “X” platform, the French president called for the swift and full implementation of the agreement, stressing that it would allow for the urgent and unconditional reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
In this context, he pointed out the readiness of the international mission, in cooperation with the United Kingdom, to keep pace with this development, with full readiness of the necessary means.
He stressed that the resumption of maritime traffic without restrictions or fees is a prerequisite for ensuring regional stability and protecting the global economy.
The French president considered that the agreement opens the door to a comprehensive negotiating process that promotes peace and security in the Middle East region.
For her part, Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, stressed the need for the agreement between the United States and Iran to lead to the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
In a comment, von der Leyen said that the priority now is rapid and full implementation by all parties, noting that restoring free navigation without fees is essential for regional stability and the global economy, and also opens the door to broader negotiations on peace and security in the Middle East.
In this context, she called on all parties to respect Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, stressing the need for a genuine ceasefire, and affirming that Europe reiterates its support for stability and de-escalation in the region.
For his part, New Zealand Foreign Minister Winston Peters described the agreement as “pivotal and constructive,” considering it an important step towards reducing tensions and promoting stability in a region that is of vital importance to global economic security.
In response to Arab reactions, Saudi Arabia welcomed the agreement between the United States and Iran to end military operations and begin detailed negotiations within 60 days with the aim of reaching a permanent agreement, and called for a permanent settlement that takes into account the security interests of the countries of the region.
In a statement issued by the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Kingdom noted the mediation efforts undertaken by the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the State of Qatar, and the response of the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran to these efforts, which led to reaching this agreement.
The Kingdom stressed the importance of restoring security and freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz to the status it was before February 28, and expressed its aspiration to achieve peace that enhances the security of the region and the world, through reaching a permanent agreement that takes into account the security interests of the countries of the region and adheres to the principle of respecting the internal affairs of countries.
For its part, the State of Kuwait expressed its welcome for reaching an agreement on the memorandum of understanding between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran, which stipulates an immediate and permanent cessation of military operations and guarantees freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
A statement issued by the Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry praised the role played by both Pakistan and Qatar, along with other sisterly and friendly countries, which contributed to bringing viewpoints closer and creating the conditions for reaching this important understanding.
The State of Kuwait reiterated its support for all efforts aimed at settling disputes and conflicts by peaceful means, in accordance with the principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations, expressing its hope that this understanding will constitute an important step towards broader approaches to addressing outstanding issues through sustainable solutions that would consolidate the principles of good neighborliness, foremost among them mutual respect and confidence-building, non-interference in the internal affairs of states, non-use of force or the threat thereof, and cessation of support for proxies, in a manner that contributes to establishing the foundations of security and stability at the regional and international levels, and ensures the continued freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
The statement called on all parties to engage in the upcoming negotiations in a positive and constructive spirit, in support of efforts to enhance cooperation, consolidate stability and achieve prosperity for the peoples of the region and the world.
In light of the announced agreement, the United Arab Emirates stressed the importance of prioritizing dialogue, diplomacy, and adherence to international law in order to enhance security and stability in the region.
A statement issued by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed the importance of full compliance with the terms of the agreement, which would ensure an immediate and comprehensive cessation of hostilities in the region, respect for the sovereignty of states and the principles of good neighborliness, strict adherence to international law, and the protection of maritime routes and freedom of international navigation, including ensuring the smooth flow of traffic in the Strait of Hormuz.
The ministry praised the American diplomatic efforts that contributed to reaching this understanding, and the contribution of the countries and parties concerned in creating the appropriate conditions to reach this agreement.
The statement called for the importance of continuing to move forward with negotiations, in order to build on this progress and achieve sustainable results, stressing that the UAE supports all efforts aimed at strengthening security and stability, and consolidating the approach of dialogue and diplomacy in addressing regional and international crises, in a way that serves the interests of the peoples of the region and enhances opportunities for development and prosperity.
In the same context, Egypt considered the agreement to be a very important development that would restore security and stability at the regional and international levels.
In a statement today, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its hope that this agreement would constitute a major turning point towards strengthening mutual trust, establishing new foundations for cooperation, creating a supportive environment for peace, and advancing diplomatic efforts aimed at addressing the remaining various regional issues, which would positively impact the security and stability of the Middle East region.
She also reiterated Egypt’s firm position in support of peaceful solutions and the settlement of disputes through diplomatic means, noting that settling differences through dialogue and negotiation is a fundamental approach to achieving peace and consolidating stability, in accordance with the principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations.
In Lebanon, President General Joseph Aoun praised the agreement reached on the memorandum of understanding between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran, and what it included in terms of confirmation of the cessation of military actions and escalation in the region, including Lebanon.
In a statement issued by the Lebanese Presidency, Aoun noted the memorandum’s respect for Lebanese sovereignty and its acknowledgment that Lebanon’s stability and security are an integral part of any serious effort to consolidate stability in the region.
He expressed his gratitude to all the countries and entities that contributed to the completion of this memorandum, and to everyone who worked to include Lebanon in the efforts aimed at ending the escalation and stopping military operations on various fronts.
Jordan also welcomed the agreement reached between the United States and Iran to end military operations and begin detailed negotiations to achieve a permanent agreement, considering it “an important step towards restoring regional and international security and stability.”
In a statement today, the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Jordan’s appreciation for the efforts made by the sisterly Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the sisterly State of Qatar, and other sisterly and friendly countries to reach the agreement, and for the response of the United States and Iran to these efforts.
The ministry stressed the importance of reaching a permanent agreement that consolidates security and stability in the region, takes into account the security interests of the countries of the region, adheres to the principles of good neighborliness, respects the sovereignty of states, does not interfere in their internal affairs, and restores security and freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
In this context, the Arab League welcomed the announcement of the agreement, expressing hope that this development would constitute an important step towards putting a final end to Iranian and Israeli attacks on Arab lands.
A statement issued by the League praised the diplomatic efforts made by various Arab, regional and international parties to reach this agreement, calling on the parties concerned to deal with the next stage of negotiations on important issues in a positive spirit, and to be keen to reach a peaceful solution to the crisis.
He stressed that any final agreement reached must respect the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of the Arab states, and take into account the legitimate Arab demands regarding achieving security in the region, while warning against Israel’s continued efforts to sabotage the agreement and perpetuate the state of permanent war.
For its part, the Arab Parliament expressed its welcome for the agreement on the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran, appreciating the efforts made by the State of Qatar and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and all Arab and international efforts that contributed to bringing viewpoints closer and supporting the diplomatic endeavors that led to this agreement.
