Doha (UNA/QNA) – The State of Qatar welcomed the agreement on the memorandum of understanding between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran regarding addressing outstanding issues between them, including ensuring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, and considered it an important step towards consolidating sustainable peace and promoting economic growth regionally and internationally.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the State of Qatar’s appreciation for the will of the American and Iranian sides and their keenness to move forward to resolve the differences through negotiation and peaceful means. In this context, it commended the partnership and efforts made by the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and all regional and international parties to reduce escalation and bring viewpoints closer together in order to reach an agreement on this memorandum.
The Ministry affirmed the State of Qatar's continued full support for all good offices and endeavors aimed at strengthening regional security and stability, and reaching sustainable solutions to outstanding issues through dialogue and peaceful means, in accordance with the principles of international law and good neighborliness, and contributing to opening new horizons.
